WW181: BILLY EICHNER, TAKD DESIGN and THE WATER TANK PROJECT

Welcome to Wonderful Wednesday this week.
Here are the five things I want you to LOVE this week!!!!

1.) LET'S GO TO NYC!!!!! Come on guys! (I know….like I need an excuse to want to go to there!!) "The Water Tank Project" is part art exhibition and part social awareness campaign that transforms 300 rooftop water tanks in New York City into original works of art.

Filmmaker Mary Jordan, who came up with the idea for the project, sees the initiative as a chance to educate people about the global water issues. "Understand that we have to reduce our plastic waste, reduce our meat consumption and really conserve our water," she said. Over 100 water tanks will be wrapped with art by acclaimed artists such as John Baldessari, Jeff Koons, Maya Lin, Andy Goldsworthy and even NYC public school students.

WW179: THE CORNERSHOP, GROWN UPS READ, and THE SAPPHIRES

Sorry I haven't blogged since last week……I am bring to take some time off…..but I didn't forget about you, dear readers!!! Here are the 5 things I love this week:

1.) Lucy Sparrow in the UK…..transformed an abandoned Cornershop into a unique pop-up grocery store filled with hand made felt products. Each item- from the bean cans, to the snacks, drinks, frozen dinners, chewing gum and newspapers are made entirely out of felt: each meticulously hand sewn, stuffed and priced to sell! Just look at this…..

 CRAAAAZY!!!!
I love it so much!
Now if you are like me, and simply cannot make it to the UK this month…..go to her website…
http://www.thecornershoponline.com

AH-MAH-ZING! Right???
(thanks to Junk Culture for this!)

2.) You need to listen to this Canadian podcast (if you don't listen to the CBC Radio One) Grownups Read Things They Wrote as Kids.

The premise is simple and wonderful (and perfect for my friend Cheepay!!) Adults recite passages written by their younger selves, culled from old school assignments, letters from camp, poetry, short stories and personal diaries kept safe over the years.

The series is hosted/created by Dan Misener and taped all over Canada! It is marvellous!!!!
GO GET IT ON ITUNES!!!
or go to the Facebook Page or follow on Tweets

(thanks Deb for sending me to this!!)

3.) THIS!!! Belle Air bathtub hardware designed by Christo Lefroy Brooks!

COME ON!!!!!!!
So fan-freaking-tastic!!!

4.) Way behind on this…..but I really enjoyed the movie "The Sapphires"

From 2012 -- this is an Australian musical/comedy/drama film based on the 2004 stage play of the same name which is loosely based on a true story! It is really enjoyable….and is about four indigenous women, Gail (Deborah Mailman), Julie (Jessica Mauboy), Kay (Shari Sebbens) and Cynthia (Miranda Tapsell), who are discovered by a talent scout (Chris O'Dowd), and form a music group named The Sapphires, travelling to Vietnam in 1968 to sing for troops during the war.
Enjoyable!!!! Here is a clip:

I thought the music was great, it looked great. Loads of heart….what else do you need????
Go see it!

5.) Unnecessary Censorship. THIS is amusing….a bit filthy…..but amusing…..(the YouTube links are below if the clips don't show up on your phone! ;-)

WW178: GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, FORESTA LUMINA, and ORANGE IS THE NEW CONAN

Hey! Happy short work-week y'all!!
Here are the 5 things that I want you to enjoy this week…..because I enjoy them!
Welcome to 'Wonderful Wednesday'!

1.) It is close to lunch…..and I am blogging about a movie next…..so I give you this……perhaps instead of paying $12 on popcorn at the theatre…..you could make this…..as a bring along:

Caramel Pretzel Popcorn
INGREDIENTS

1 1/2 cups roughly chopped pretzels

12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate
2 cups mini marshmallows (4 ounces)
1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
8 cups air popped popcorn
3 tablespoons light corn syrup
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup brown sugar

Last week I was reprimanded by a recipe I posted……so this week I need you to go to the original website for the how-to of this recipe. It may keep me from getting in trouble with a potential grumpy blogger who doesn't think adding links to their website - and Facebook page and Twitter is ENOUGH free advertisement…..
:-)
….or just go check out http://www.tablespoon.com for more yummy recipes!
THERE IS LOTS OF GOOD STUFF THERE!!!

2.) Guardians of the Galaxy. FUN. Sure…….it is just like the the Avengers in formula….but that doesn't make it any less enjoyable!!!! Here is a clip (just in case you live under a rock):

C - OLOUR. Oh man, I am so glad we are not subjected to another "Nolan-esque" colour paletted movie full of grey and black……gimme a little purple ANYDAY!

D - ang funny! YES…. It has that whole 'Iron Man' comedy thing going for it!!!

E - ye Candy…….by way of rockin' interstellar bodies….oh…and the clothed cast were really good too!

…oh and did I mention they are only $7!!!!!
COME ON!!!!

4.) I want to go to there!!!!!!‘Foresta Lumina‘!!!!!! Moment Factory has transformed the Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook in QuĂ©bec into an enchanted forest! Walk along a magical 2 km pathway winding through the trees. Along the way you will see characters drawn from the area’s myths and legends.

COOL HUH? The marriage of colour and light and projection looks AH-MAH-ZING….

WW175: THE SHINING SCARF, HOUSE OF CARDS, and DIP N DANCE

Howdy Folks!
Welcome to Wonderful Wednesday!
Here are the 5 things that I think are wonderful this week - 5 things I want you to love as well!!!!

1.) Ok..this is A LOT…but there is something I REALLY like about it. Don't judge me! have thou seen "The Shining"? Do you remember the carpet in the hallway? No?? (I have a very visceral memory of this movie so it seems clear to me….) but for those of you who don't really remember, it looked like this:

Well now YOU can dress up your home…or your person……to match……
Thanks to MONDO you can…….
A nice rug for your from door…..
or perhaps a cardigan?

Nothing says "Im gonna try to kill you with an axe" better than a cute cardi!

Go get one today!!! But please do not try to murder me! :-)

2.) THIS made me hungry! Thanks Pinterest……and From Brazil to You. org!!

Ingredients
4 ears of fresh corn, with both husk and threads removed
Olive oil to brush
A pinch of salt
A pinch of freshly ground black pepper
A pinch of nutmeg (optional)

For the Jalapeño-Lime Aioli:
1 jalapeño chile, stem removed, deseeded, and chopped
1-1/2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice
1/2 cup mayonnaise
Salt to taste
A pinch of freshly ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon paprika (for smokiness)
1 teaspoon of garlic powder
Shredded Parmesan cheese (for a dairy-free version, skip the cheese)
Chopped fresh cilantro to garnish

Directions: Outdoors or on the Barbecue Grill: Preheat the barbecue grill to a medium high temperature (350Âş F/ 180Âş C). Meanwhile, in a large bowl of water, cover the cobs completely with cold water and let them soak for 20-30 minutes (this will provide extra moisture for the cobs while they are grilling). Shake off excess water from the cobs. Then, tear 4 rectangular sheets of aluminum foil. Place one cob in the center of each sheet of aluminum foil. Then, brush each cob with olive oil, and season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Roll the aluminum foil around each ear of corn and enclose by twisting the ends tightly, as illustrated below. Finally, place the wrapped ears of corn on the grill and cook for about 15 minutes, rotating with tongs periodically. Using tongs, remove cobs from the grill and open the foil with oven mitts. Press down on a few of the kernels; if liquid comes out, the corn is done. If you want the corn to have grill marks, subsequently place unwrapped cobs directly on the grill and let cook for about 2 minutes, rotating them occasionally. Serve the grilled corn either simply, spread with butter, or topped with the Aioli and Parmesan cheese.

YUUUUUMMMMMM!

3.) This is neat…..OGE creative group brings you a travelling light installation called ‘house of cards,’ that will travel around the globe! The installation is promising to be different in each city by displaying various sets of cards according to the local environment. Here it is in Jerusalem:

For this site, designers Merav Eitan and Gaston Zahr have piled up 126 cards that create a 10 x 7 x 5 meter structure that is entirely modular and can be continued indefinitely.

Each individual card measures 90 cm x 150 cm and is built as a double-sided, ultra-slim light box, illuminated from inside with ultra-bright LED technology. The deck of cards for this version is of biblical figures that were illustrated by the famous painter and illustrator, jean david, in the 1970 for el al airlines.

Cool huh?
Now check out the video:

4.) This is cute……Dip N’ Dance is an independent short film directed by Hugo Cierzniak and produced at Delapost Paris. The story is about a forty-year old middle-class who loves his gadgets to toe the line. He will figure out, in a musical way, that things you own end up owning you.
