Her knitted wares include your typical science lab specimens like; a frog, a mouse, and an earthworm, an alien, a bear, a rabbit, a bat, and even a human head. Emily says “I love to explore the places where art and science intersect. I am also interested in using cuddly materials (like cozy knitting) to create objects that many people are usually squeamish about.”
Well done!!!

WW148:BORDALO SEGUNDO, CHURROS, AND THE DAPPER GENTLEMAN!

1.) This mural is GREAT! Street artist Bordalo Segundo is super talented just look at this new mixed media mural installation titled "Arara Do Bosque De Telheiras".  He uses garbage and found objects combined with vibrant colours! WOW!

Find out more about Bordalo II here.
(thanks to Street Art News)

2.) This watch….I NEEEEEEEEED it.  Mr. Jones makes good watches!!!!

Mr Jones says:

"The hands on this watch are in the form of two circles, one circle is labelled "what I want" and the other "what I need". As the circles move to mark the time, they form a Venn diagram. The shifting relationship that the diagram depicts between "wants" and "needs" is a way for us to think about the changing nature of our own desires and their fulfilment.
The watch is a tool for questioning ourselves - how does the diagram reflect the relationship between our own wants and needs at any given time?

wants vs needs comes in two sizes: a smaller ladies-specific case as well as this larger unisex size. This watch is produced in an edition of 100 pieces, with each watch individually numbered on the case back. The watch comes in a MJW presentation box, with specially commissioned design by artist and illustrator Camilla Meijer."

COME ON!!!! I LOVE IT!

3.) OK…speaking of things I MUST HAVE…...This seems like a MUST have. Am I right??? The Electric Churros Maker by Nostalgia Electrics.

Broadchurch is a classic British whodunnit! It is just too brilliantly acted to ignore. Honestly, I kept thinking....oh....he did it......no she did it....no...it was the butler......no......wait......IT WAS CRAZY!!!!
YOU MUST DOWNLOAD THE WHOLE SEASON!!

Did I mention HOW CRAZY GOOD IT WAS? It is only 8 parts -- and it is really twisty and turn-y!

2.) SPEAKING OF REPEATS......Hey! east enders.....I JUST NOTICED that Leslieville has a great new addition!! Hey Meatball! Leslieville is NOW OPEN at 912 Queen Street East (at Logan)!!!

Word on the street is that the new restaurant will be pretty much the same as the College Street one, but at 850 square feet, it’ll be a bit cozier.

I think it also has some new menu items in the works -- as well as the CLASSIC dishes you expect from your friends at Hey!

So if you like balls - like I like balls - YOU MUST go and enjoy them TODAY!!!

3.) Elise LeGrow! I am late getting to her.....but......better late than never! She is a Canadian recording artist and songwriter. I love the old retro feel!!

WW125: XU BING, HUD and BAAACON!!!!

Hello all!
Welcome to anyone new that is discovering me from the TOAE!
This is my weekly Wonderful Wednesday post.
In this post, I pick 5 things that I LOVE and share them with you!
I try to make it interesting and make it not ALL art related.....
So less chit-chat, let's get to it!

1.) The first thing is usually someone else's work that I admire/envy. Like this.....

Straight from China......via Massachusetts ....artist Xu Bing spent two years creating his newest work titled "Phoenix". Currently on exhibit at MassMoCA, this AH-MAH-ZING installation features two massive birds made from materials harvested from construction sites in urban China!

I LOVE IT! It has lots of great debris.....including demolition debris, steel beams, tools, and remnants of the daily lives of migrant laborers.

The official press release says: "At once fierce and strangely beautiful, the mythic Phoenixes bear witness to the complex interconnection between labor, history, commercial development, and the rapid accumulation of wealth in today's China."

Find out more about Xu Bing's work here.

2.) Ok.....for all you tech-geeks out there.........I give you this! (thanks Warren)
HUD (Head up Display) from Garmin! It is new and is super cool.....you just apply the transparent film on your windshield,  place it on your dash and pair it wirelessly with your smartphone. Now you can see WITHOUT looking down to your device and nearly killing a pedestrian!!!! HUZZAH!!! All those saved lives for only $130.00!

LOVE IT!

3.) If you know me.....you know I LOOOOVE my NYC. Well, here is a little project I really think is great!!

The Architectural League of New York partnered with Pen World Voices Festival to bring Little Free Library to New York City. Stereotank founded by Venezuelan architects Marcelo Ertorteguy and Sara Valente was selected to create an 'inhabitable' free library where users could immerse themselves and take the time to browse through books and borrow or exchange them.

The structure is built out of an upside down plastic tank and a wooden frame. Perforations around the tank allow visitors to peek inside and preview the interior, which invites them to duck under and discover the book collection while still having a connection with the exterior.

The installation is planned to be active until September 2013 at St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral School in Nolita. Find out more about the project here.

4.) Usually I like to discuss some FABULOUS FOOD, SUPER COOL new music, or a great TV show/film that I have discovered......alas.....this last week has been full of getting ready/doing the TOAE.....so I haven't had a chance to actually LIVE.......but in the near future I really hope to do this.....

Yup. A tour of Toronto....starring PORK!!!A few hours touring the city sampling yummy porky things!!!!!!!! Thanks to TourGuys.ca!!!

Not convinced????

How about now??
Read more about it HERE - thanks to The Torontoist!!

5.) Finally, this made me LAUGH....and I ALWAYS end with a laugh.........(please note this is NOT suitable for young children! In fact it may be downright offensive to some!! :-)
(thanks Cindy for this one)
