1.) This one is for my friends who love show tunes - like I love show tunes……
      Julie, Madly, Deeply. I am so happy that I got to see this show!!! It was super fun!

If you like cabaret - if you like musicals - if you like those crazy Brits - most of all if you like Julie Andrews - THIS is the show for you!!!!

Yes, it is 105 minutes of delightful tribute to Julie - from her SUPER FAN Sarah-Louise Young!

2.) This is for my peeps who like great architecture……or who love nature……or BOTH! Let's all go to Sydney, Australia and marvel at ‘One Central Park‘:

It is ‘the world’s tallest vertical garden’. It is designed by Jean Nouvel in collaboration with PTW architects. Now check out this cool cantilevered reflector installation with motorized infrared panels, designed to redirect sunlight to otherwise shaded areas of the plan. It also becomes a cool LED light at night!

I like that there is greenery on EVERY UNIT of this apartment building! The plants help reduce energy consumption with leaves that trap carbon dioxide, emit oxygen and reflect less heat back into the city than traditional fixed shading. BRILLIANT!!!!!!

3.) A is for ADORABLE! Anna Kövecses, made this fantastic book for her four year old daughter!

 “This book is the result of a very personal project aiming to introduce a little girl to the 44 letters of the Hungarian alphabet. Illustrations were carefully designed so that every subject that appears in this book is something she’s currently very much interested in. So in one way this book is not just a tool but also a diary documenting a four-year-old little girl’s world in the summer of 2013 on an island in the Mediterranean Sea…”

WOW! That is amazing. So sweet! But I also love these retro-y very graphic art pieces!

WW137: THE BOX, ARSCHEERIO PAUL and THE SPIFFY COOKIE

Here are 5 things I think are great this week:

1.) In a former life, I was a scenic painter. If I was still doing that, THIS would be SCARY TO ME....but as a regular theatre goer - I thought the possibilities of this were nothing short of mind-bending! In this video.......they have combined robotics, the projection-mapping of 3D computer graphics, and an actor all working together in perfect synchronization. Take five minutes to watch this short film called "The Box" you will be AH-MAH-ZED!

The short film was produced by San Francisco-based design and engineering firm Bot & Dolly. It's the first of its kind — an achievement the producers believe will "radically transform theatrical presentations and define new genres of expression." The creators describe the film as being both an “artistic statement and technical demonstration”, one that explores “the synthesis of real and digital space through projection mapping on moving surfaces”. To create this stunning effect, Bot & Dolly used an actor, two high-resolution projectors, two 2D monitors, and three industrial robots (one for the camera) that were synchronized and controlled by integrating their own software with Autodesk's Maya.

Peanut Butter Fudge Cake

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups granulated sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup unsalted butter
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup water
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
16 ounces (about 1 & 1/2 cups) creamy peanut butter

For the icing:
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1/3 cup buttermilk
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
16 ounces confectioners’ sugar, sifted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350°. Grease and flour a 9” x 13” baking pan.
Whisk together flour, sugar, and baking soda in a large bowl. Set aside.
Place butter in a medium saucepan. Melt over medium heat.
Stir in cocoa powder. Then, stir in water, buttermilk, and eggs. Continue cooking over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture boils.
Remove the mixture from the heat and add to flour mixture. Stir until smooth. Stir in vanilla.
Transfer batter to prepared pan and spread evenly.
Bake 20 to 25 minutes, or until a pick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
Cool in pan on wire rack for 10 minutes. Then, spread the peanut butter over the cake. Allow to cool completely.
To make the icing, place the sifted confectioners’ sugar in a large bowl. Set aside.
Combine butter, buttermilk, and cocoa in a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture begins to boil.
Remove from heat and pour over confectioners’ sugar. Stir until smooth. Stir in vanilla.
Spread icing over peanut butter. The cake can be served immediately or can sit at room temperature to allow the icing to set.

4.) I want to go to there!!!! "Empire Drive-In" is a full-scale drive-in theater made out of wrecked cars and a 40-foot screen constructed of salvaged wood. Audiences climb in and out of cars rescued from the junkyard to watch films projected on the big screen. Low-power radio transmits stereo audio directly to each car.

 

 The project created by Brooklyn-based artists Jeff Stark and Todd Chandler invites audiences to participate in a series of questions about car culture, planned obsolescence, and the distinction between public and private space.

  You can also watch a movie on a really big screen!!

5.) The Arscheerio Paul Show.

Ok....so this is nut bar. Comedian Paul Scheer launched a web series in which he recreates classic interviews from 'The Arsenio Hall Show' WORD FOR WORD!!!!

Yes, Scheer plays Hall, and he brings in his comedy friends to re-enact the guests.
