Hey guys! Welcome back to Wonderful Wednesday!!!!
Here are 5 things that I enjoy this week....

1.) I always talk about art that I see that moves me. This week I thought I would feature an artist that I have shown with and whose work I really enjoy. You gotta check out Beverley Hawksley.

I love how subversive and dark, yet how playful these pieces are.
I thoroughly enjoy seeing her work around Toronto. I want YOU to learn more about her art....
Check out this video:

You should go to her WEBSITE here.... to find out where you can see her work LIVE, because it needs to be seen live to get the real feeling from it! Engaging and melancholy work....but not depressing.....just interesting and lovely!

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?
After MONTHS away, I give you Wonderful Wednesday!!!!!

So, if they aren't new to you......sorry you're so DAMN informed.....GEESH!
(yikes - already a bit aggressive in this post...Buckle up!!!)

1.) Okay, it in NO SECRET that lately I have been feeling a bit down, and I have been looking for laughs in my television schedge (schedule in hipster). Unfortunately, "The Big Bang Theory", "Mom" and "Looking" have all had dead parent sub-plots THIS MONTH......and let's face it, there are NOT a lot of laughs on "The Walking Dead"....that is why I thank the Lord for:

Broad City. Season two...is so G.D. good!!!!!!!!

Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson are brilliantly funny! You must must MUST watch this show. It is so offensive and wonderful!!!!!  Catch up by watching it on demand - or on MUCH!
Here's a sneak peak of the (almost over) second season:
Big laughs.....EXACTLY what I am looking for!
NOT FOR KIDS. Seriously, yo.

2.) Remember when you were a kid, and your folks would take you to the Marks and Spencer store in the mall, and you would think....um......this store is so boring (yes, a lot of that had to do with being a 7 year old in ANY store that didn't sell toys).....BUT THIS IS NOT YOUR MOMMA'S MARKS AND SPENCER! I give you these MUST HAVE socks from M&S (yes....that is the new name...hip...right?):
MUPPET SOOOOOOOOOCCCCCCKKKS!!
(that was a squeal of joy - I got a set for Xmas, and I cannot wear them enough!)
Thanks Mark and Jeff and Marks and Spencer.
Go order something from them now....free shipping to the Colony!
;-)

3.) Have you missed my reviews of pancakes? Have you? Well last week I had some yummy brunch at Cafè Fiorentina......

Yes.......it's small.....but the food was yummy....as were the sweet treats we took home!!! Try them for dinner or lunch or YUM YUM brunch!

WW183: PROFANITY POP, FUZ DESIGNS, and the FLEDERHAUS

Welcome to Wonderful Wednesday!!
Here are the 5 things I want you to LOVE this week!!!
Check these out:

1.) José Rodolfo Loaiza Ontiveros’ latest works which just showed at La Luz De Jesus Gallery are still amazing! I love seeing Disney characters doing very unDisney-like things. Uncouth, corrupt and compromising Disney Princesses, Princes, Villians and Mickey et al are featured in "Profanity Pop".

“With Profanity Pop, Rodolfo pays tribute to specific historical works that have inspired many generations. Universal themes are once again narrated by beloved animated characters, but in the guise of the divine and with all the fragility of martyrs. Away from the paradise of happy endings, the pastel sprinkled drama takes on a vulnerability that juxtaposes subversively with situations never similarly interpreted. The Monarchy of prejudices and taboos crumble in this story. The disenfranchised reach beyond discrimination, and in this narrative no union is sinful or suppressed.”
Below are the paintings photographed from the actual exhibit at La Luz De Jesus Gallery.

So great.
Check out  La Luz De Jesus Gallery
and of course go to José Rodolfo Loaiza Ontiveros’ site too!!!
SUPER FUN!!!!

2.) The 'Noke' from FŪZ Designs looks like a supper cool padlock!!!! I need it!!!

No you b*tches…..not for the gym…..just cause it is cool!!!
You use air the Noke lock with your phone using bluetooth and their app. When your phone is in range (you can also generate guest keys for friends etc...), just press the shackle and it will unlock. You don’t even have to take your phone out of your pocket to unlock!!!!!!!!

AH MAH ZING!

And if there is a  battery failure (most likely your phone because Noke has a year long battery), you can also program a Quick-Click code to unlock it.
COME ON!
HOW COOL IS THAT?
Go to  Fuz Designs to see more!!!

3.) I WANT TO GO TO THERE……..The Flederhaus is an awesome structure in Vienna designed by architects Heri & Salli….

It is for hanging out - LITERALLY!!!!!! The open building, situated in the Museum Quarter of the city, houses 28 hammocks on 5 floors that offer great views to one and all at no cost. The inviting hammocks are arranged to allow for meeting and interacting with neighbours.

HONESTLY!!! How great is this??

Let's go!
(thanks to http://collabcubed.com)

4.) I posted about this one in March of last year, but they swung by my booth at The Cabbagetown show and bought this print…..

So I thought I would mention them AGAIN!!! Rashers. an amazing little eatery in Leslieville is delightful for a takeaway nosh!! (If you LOOOVE some bacon, like I love bacon.)

I have been in a number of times this year and have had the bacon sliders, the Brioche and a few of the grilled cheese sammies!!

Yummers.

A snippet of the menu!!

I like the "wall of bacon" GO SEE MY PIECE HANGIN HERE!!!!

You should go! AND give a little 'like' to them on Twitter and Facebook too!!!
(and thanks for the support guys!)

5.) I leave you with this…….I cannot help but watch it over and over again…..I think it is the elaborate score!!!!
(HERE IS THE LINK PHONE PEEPS!)
Thanks Cindy for this!

WW140: CHEESEWERKS, THE GRAND BUDAPEST and GAY RAMBO

Ok….so here are 5 things that I like this week - that you should like too!!!!

1.) As part of the London Design Festival 2013, Lebanese designer Najla El Zein created "The Wind Portal", an interactive wind installation showcased at the V&A museum. El Zein folded thousands of paper windmills, to create the gigantic moving structure.

SO GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!

2.) I AM SOOOOOOO looking forward to this movie. Ok….so there is a tremendous wait ahead….but just look at this trailer of writer/director Wes Anderson’s new film The Grand Budapest Hotel which opens March 7, 2014.

The story takes place in early 20th-century Hungary and revolves around the goings-on at The Grand Budapest Hotel (duh), where a legendary concierge (Ralph Fiennes) takes a young employee (Tony Revolori) under his wing to become his trusted protégé. It looks soooooo stunning -- I mean the art direction is AH-MAH-ZING! It looks weird and quirky and I am a fan of that!! It is also real treat to see Ralph Fiennes in a comedic role!!!!

3.) I WANT TO GO TO THERE. Check out this crazy renovation! The Broerenkerk church – now named ‘waanders in der broeren’- in the city of Zwolle, the Netherlands was built in 1466 and was used for prayin' and such, up until 1982. Then it was dormant for 3 decades! But now it is open again -as a bookstore/cafe/gallery!!!!

Local firm bk architected did a splendid job of keeping the best parts of the church! With a few modern touches like a contemporary stained glass panel made by norwegian artist knell nupen. I love the refurbished organ at the end of the building.

 LOVE IT!!!

LET'S GO!
See WAY more photos at designboom

4.) CheeseWerks. At the home show last month, I listened to 4 presentations about this place. OBVIOUSLY this worked on me. We went last weekend!

It is a great causal dining experience - and it would be great for a group of people! It is kinda cafeteria style - so you order at the cash desk and then they bring it to you! Which now that I am typing this - is probably not 'cafeteria style' at all! Anyways…..I like that you can even borrow one of their board games to play while you wait - or while you eat!! Now the food…….here is the menu:

You can choose one of the 4 dishes - and then decide on how you want it styled. We did share-seys! The Houston Mac and Cheese and the Los Angeles Grilled Cheese:

YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Both were delicious!
So….if you are looking for a fun CHEESEY place to go…….check it out!
It is located at
56 Bathurst St.  Toronto, ON M5V 2P7
(416) 243-3327
(Bathurst and just both of Wellington)
YUMMMMM!

5.) Then there is this…….not at all a waste of 7 minutes……..and not offensive at all!!! PLEASE DO NOT LET YOU CHILDREN WATCH THIS!!! (and do thank my Husband for this one)
