2.) This is interesting. You know, I like to think we live in a different time. The sad fact is….that people are still afraid of people who are different from themselves…….I dunno if you saw that VIRAL "First Kiss" video where a filmmaker set up two strangers to meet and suck each others faces off…….Well….the Gay Women Channel on YouTube decided to have a little fun with it. They found some mildly homophobic but open volunteers to meet gay people and have a very safe, platonic hug. The results were surprisingly heartwarming…..
So there you go!
3.) Ok….this is SUCH old news…..but…..if you are looking for a fast-paced brainless popcorn action movie….may I suggest "Now You See Me". I saw it this weekend, and really enjoyed it!!!
Louis Leterrier (of "Transporter" fame) has created a really fun film! Yes…..it is light on the seriousness and heavy on the style — Ebert called it "a razzle-dazzle fantasy about a team of bank-robbing illusionists" - which is pretty succinct! It’s slick, deliberately silly, and nothing short of a special effects extravaganza! The cast is CRAZY; Jesse Eisenberg, Isla Fisher, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Mark Ruffalo, Mélanie Laurent and Morgan Freeman….and you never quite know what is coming up next!
Basically it is a heist film that is done mostly by "magic" — but don't let that turn you off……..it is "proudly outlandish" and involve everything from giant mirrors, doubles, hypnosis, copious amounts of flash paper, and holograms as tricks. It is what makes the film so entertaining — in a gaudy, disposable, Vegas act sort of way! It is just non-stop, ever-escalating ridiculousness.
Enjoyable!
4.) Where my drinkers at? I really want to try this……
APPLE CIDER SANGRIA
1 1/2 cups cinnamon simple syrup* 1 box Black Box white wine (I used Sauvignon Blanc.) 2 cups Apple Pie Vodka 2 cups ginger brandy 4 cups apple cider 1 cup grapes, sliced in half 4 apples, cubed 4 pears, cubed 8 – 10 cinnamon sticks
Combine all ingredients in a large pitcher, cover, and refrigerate for 2 hours or up to 2 days. Serve over ice.
*Bring 1 cup sugar, 2 cups water, and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon to a simmer over medium-high heat until sugar is completely dissolved. I usually let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes to create a thicker syrup. Allow syrup to cool completely.
5.) This made me laugh…...Todd Spence -- art illustrator and editor of Break.com, created these "mash-ups" of the two main characters from HBO's True Detective, Rustin Cohle (Matt McConaughy) and Marty Hart (Woody Harrelson) with vintage Hardy Boys Detective novels.

1.) These are neato posters from Jesús Prudencio. A talented graphic artist, web designer and illustrator from Badajoz, currently living in Seville, Spain. A fan of both films and cars, he took it upon himself to create these minimalist posters representing movies by the iconic vehicles within them.

The menu has a lot of the stuff we LOVED as kids.......pizza on metal stands....great plastic jugs of Pop Shoppe pop.......ice cream floats.............a crazy guy with a moustache......oh.....sorry - scratch that last one........
To break with tradition.......I had this panzarotti. This part is gonna either gross you out......or make you want to go to there. It was stuffed with bacon.....and macaroni and cheese. RIDICULOUS! And soooooo bad for you........but yummy.
Next time I will have to try the 'za!!!

oh....and did I mention the multi million dollar, one tonne, six-meter high "puppet animatronic"?? Suspended from the ceiling, Kong's limbs are manipulated on stage by 10 specially trained stage circus artists who scurry over and around the puppet, shifting his arms and legs by hand or using ropes.
um......WOW! The amazing puppeteer Sonny Tilders (who did the amazing dinosaurs of the "Walking with Dinosaurs" stage show) is one of the folks that helped create this HUGE BUDGET Specti-musi-cal!!!
So....let's go and see King Kong is at the Regent Theatre, in Melbourne, Australia!!!
4.) This is a neato thing too......artist Bill Fitzgibbons uses LEDs to creat beauty in a neglected street underpass in downtown Birmingham, Alabama.
The project is titled "Light Rails" illuminates the dark and uninviting underpass with thousands of colours encouraging pedestrian traffic in a vital connection between two growing areas of downtown Birmingham.
SO PRETTY!

A few weeks ago.......I posted this item:
1.) I enjoy these graphic posters from Geek My WalL - pop culture icons depicted in a very graphic way - using typography to spell out a quote from the character......
He was really upset that someone I featured is ripping off his work. As he puts it:
"The similarities between the work are too close to be coincidental. Especially as this person has only been operational for a month. My work has been featured on many blogs and magazines and has been 'out there' for a long time so I believe that this person has seen it and figured they could make money out of copying it. I'm all for taking inspiration from other artists, it's what keeps creative juices flowing but blatantly copying them is not on! Especially as I've put a lot of hard work into my art as I take it very seriously and the thought of someone jumping on the back of my success angers me! It's unoriginal and lazy!"
So....yes.....it is similar in many ways.
I can see why Pete is upset, I would be too!
Unfortunately there is no way to say whether his came first and were copied or not......so i did a little research and found Laura Sweet of "It's Hip, It's here".
Laura also posted the Geek my wall versions and was confronted with the same moral dilemma - she handled it with professional blogging journalism.....
"I completely understand your frustration as a fellow creative whose personal work and blog posts are often duplicated. However, in giving this artist the benefit of the doubt, I asked her if she was aware of your work. She says she was not until after someone brought your work to her attention following my post. She claims to have been inspired by these pieces on deviant art. t is not uncommon for certain styles to be very similar and many people are playing with type. I can only take her word for it.
That said, in an effort to prove her originality, she is going to check your store before proceeding with any new art to make sure they are different. And let me commend you on your lovely work, of which I was not aware until after I wrote this post."

I thought I had al but handled it, but then yesterday, Ayse from Geek my Wall commented to me - defending her work.
In the name of fairness I want to share her rebuttal.....and then we can be done with this!
"I don't want to make things ''uglier'' so I won't blame anyone about this. I'm just writing this reply to make something clear. First of all nor me or Pete invented typography. There are so many typographic works made with ''same technique''. So results would be identically same.
At the beginning I felt guilty and even considered re-creating my works. Cause he said he was selling these for over one year. However, when I checked his history on Etsy I realised that his sales start on the very last months of 2012.
On the other hand, I was selling my posters locally in this web site. Some of my listings are still active there but actually I quit there. Thanks heaven, I never relisted these, so you can accept the dates as a proof of my argument. First listing's date is 12th April 2012.
In fact, I had to be upset about this but anyway, I don't have time for such things. I spend my time creating artworks and designs. I'm also painting stuff with my style (But I don't think I invented painting or my style. Nor I have right to accuse someone about it). : ) They will be up soon.

BUT my FINAL bottom line on this one is STILL THE SAME!
I know the frustration that Pete and Ayse are talking about!
I really have felt it myself!!!!
But the thing is, there are a finite number of original ideas out there.
Ya......I think it is possible for two people to have the same idea.
I still believe that eventually the cream rises to the top!
It could be both of these talented graphic artists - I HAVE NO IDEA!!
I am still sure that eventually all the people who lack REAL creativity will eventually move on!
**For the record, I think both sets of work have their merits....and if they both were clueless of the others existence......they can be proud of their works individually!
Truly great work transcends these types of situations!!!

3.) Wallpaper is a great glossy magazine that I LOVE to browse for House Porn (at Indigo......for free) But recently they had a bunch of covers designed by London-based Israeli illustrator Noma Bar - using products from each of the territories featured in their Global Design issue. Each illustration is actually a carefully-staged interior, "painted in a three-dimensional studio and enhanced with actual products." Bar says, "Most of them will require a second reading, or take a minute to interpret. So sit back, relax, and try to spot the intrepid matador, the American eagle, or the Eiffel tower in the brain-teasing mix." Click on the images below to enlarge them...they are well worth it!!!!!!
4.) Normally, I love simplicity in design...but something about these drew me to them. (Not enough to order one for my house...but still!!) The guys at 'Kudu magnets' found an easy and cool way to completely change the atmosphere of any kitchen. They created/designed magnetic panels that cover the whole fridge.
