WW143: THE WAY WAY BACK, MACALISTER MANSION and HAIRY PRINCESSES

Hey howdy!
Let's just get to it…..here are 5 things I LOVE this week.

1.) I am late on this one……but last week I rented "The Way Way Back". It's a sweet "Little-Miss-Sunshine-y-like" kinda film. It was written and directed by Nat Faxon and Jim Rash (aka the Dean on 'Community') -- they also wrote "The Descendants"…..

"TWWB is a funny and poignant coming of age story of 14-year-old Duncan's (Liam James) summer vacation with his mother, Pam (Toni Collette), her overbearing (douche-bag-gy) boyfriend, Trent (Steve Carell), and his daughter, Steph (Zoe Levin). Having a rough time fitting in, the introverted Duncan finds an unexpected friend in gregarious Owen (Sam Rockwell), manager of the Water Wizz water park. Through his funny, clandestine friendship with Owen, Duncan slowly opens up to and begins to finally find his place in the world - all during a summer he will never forget."

I really enjoyed it. It was a nice film. I recommend it!

2.) Here are some cool paintings from Brian Liebenthal:

"Born and educated in Johannesburg, South Africa, Brian Lnthal came to Los Angeles in the early 90’s to further his studies in music composition and film scoring. Since early childhood, Brian was playing piano, drawing or paging through art books of Rembrandt, Rubens and Caravaggio but decided to dedicate his formal education to music. It wasn’t until 1993 after a trip to Europe that Brian was deeply moved and inspired to paint professionally after seeing the works of contemporary and classical art masters up close. After returning to the United States, he immersed himself into an intensive study period learning the techniques and styles of both classical, contemporary masters and street artists. Brian never felt loyal to any particular discipline or genre and nothing was off limits to get the job done. After many years of honing his craft, Brian has emerged on the contemporary art scene as someone that is able to tackle a wide variety of subjects with a unique style and technique that is clearly his own."

3.) I cannot get this little ditty out of my head…thanks Quincy Jones (and Nikki Yanofsky):

4.) I want to go to there. Let's all plan our big trip to Macalister Mansion in Malaysia!!!

This place is dead sexy! It's 4,800 square meters of delightful! Located in in Panang, Malaysia -this new boutique hotel is a 100 year old historic mansion -- adapted into a modern and hip locale! It has only 8 rooms and the 5 F&Bs (formal diningroom, casual dining, the den, the cellar and the outdoor bar) and is designed by Colin Seah.

It's only about $250-$400 a night……not a bad price to live in luxury for a while!
LET'S GO!!!!

(thanks to If it's Hip it's Here for this one!)
