NEAT (OR ODD) NYC AND BROOKLYN THINGS

Yes.....I am back from my last GREAT vacation and ready to share some cool stuff and some weird stuff too......I had someone ask me WHY would I share this info? Well.....because I believe that design is all around us, and I think we need to take note! So here are some neat-o things:
Not sure how Brooklyn Bill in his undies makes me want to buy electronics.....but....

Macy's Brooklyn elevators......WOW!
I still love this.......Tom Otterness has created fantastic work (not that he needs my promotion - as he is acclaimed worldwide)!  "Life Underground" is part of the permanent public artwork  commissioned by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's Arts for Transit program!

GET THAT TTC???? MORE PUBLIC ART IN STATIONS PLEASE........
Adorbs!
GIANT CROC!!!!
I guess there are like 100 pieces scattered around the station!!

LOVE IT!

WASHINGton Heights?
haa...get it??
Yes....I bought myself a t-swift shirt!!!
(oh no wait.....they are spandex - did I mention that???)
Redundant?
(Sorry for the crass Lesbian joke - I am sure I am NOT the first to make it though ;-)

Fork in the a-s-s.
I've a fork in the a-s-s.
(sing it to the tune of Bruce's biggest hit!!)

ALL THE SINGLE LADIES!
WELCOME TO CONEY ISLAND.........
...um...okay.....it's like the gayest Esther Williams extravaganza.....
I call this one "Pedophire"!
Seriously.....am I the only one creeped out by the pant-less fireman with the 'stache?
THIS is why I love New Yorkers!!
(It was about 14 degrees!)

Free sand scrub facial with each beach trip!!

Hello creepy clown man.
HELLO creepy manaquin lady.

I LOVE AN OLD COASTER!!!!

This was the boardwalk bathrooms.
NEAT!

There was a flock of police people there.
Not sure why.

SPEAKING OF CREEPY FACES...........
This guy is plastered everywhere! He makes me a little uncomfortable.....
and a little intrigued. he seems like the kind of guy with secrets......

There he is again.....this time in neon!

AAAAARRRGG!! You cannot escape his pervy glance!
Here he is made of spangles.....

DANG!
Missed stuffing my face with weiners by a month!!!

LOVE THIS SIGN!
(there are more signs on my INSTAGRAM feed !)
OKAY back to Brooklyn.....

LOVE this tile work - word play!!!!

LOVE IT A LOT!!!!!!!!!!!

I got a little obsessed with asking my husband if we could go to the Jimmy Jazz.
(Evidently it got a bit tiring...but say it! Jimmy Jazz!! Illiteration is fun!!)
This crazy dental sign....

LOVe this font!

Street art! WOW!

This guy was in a Brooklyn playground! I wanted to get a picture riding it.....
BUT decided a grown adult with NO CHILD in a playground is already a bit suspect!

Let's go to The Luv N Oven.......I love the rhyming....but it sounds kinda dirty.....

Important African Americans in history..........
YOU'RE FIRED!

A-MAH-ZING mural!!!! I totally need to do a poster like THIS!

GREAT VAN!!!!!

YUP! Even in Brooklyn I cannot escape this big dummy.
Coincidentally he was on a sewage tank runny from the bathroom I was in!

This is what greeted us upon arrive to Brooklyn!
SUCH A GREAT WELCOME!
There you go....a bunch of stuff to see in Brooklyn and NYC.
I will be doing a special #WonderfulWednesday post all about New York next week with more....
But for now, I leave you to get back to work!!!

THE GREAT MISSPELLING IN GORE PARK!!!!!

HELLO!
So..if you tuned in yesterday, you will have noticed THIS POST.
It was essentially the background of this painting....

"Gore Park", 36" x 24", Acrylic on Board,

I thought it was great, so I did the blog post and social media-ed it up the wazoo.....
Then re-tooled the photo and sent the image to my printer - so that prints could be made......
BUT THEN TRAGEDY STRUCK.....
My oldest friend (old in the duration of friendship - not in age :-) noticed a spelling mistake in the art..........THANKS Michelle! Here is her website (she is a singer/comedienne/spelling bee champion)!
So...........can you find my error????
I'll give you a second....

Evidently I am a MO-ron, and overlooked the CORRECT SPELLING of "Nighttime".
WHAAAAA??
Yes......hard to believe it, but Night-time has a BUNCH of spellings - none of which include a version with only one 't'! I was one 't' short of a full nighttime.
So I spend more time....repainting out the sky and repainting in the CORRECT spelling of the words.
UGH!
I think it looks wrong! But it is not......but you be the judge:

"Gore Park", Acrylic on Board, 36" x 24" -- the REPAINT! ;-)

SO.......the NEW NEW painting will be on exhibition at the Queen & Jackson Art and Craft Market:

80 QUEEN STREET SOUTH, HAMILTON, ONTARIO. JUNE 13-14, 2015,

11:00AM-6:00PM

(And yes.....there will still be giclèes available in June!)
THANKS!!!

HAMILTON'S GORE PARK.......BY ROB CROXFORD

Good holiday Monday!
YES, I am working today - so is the life of the artist.....insert your sympathy here.....
So, here is my new painting.....it will be on exhibition at the Queen & Jackson Art and Craft Market:

80 QUEEN STREET SOUTH, HAMILTON, ONTARIO. JUNE 13-14, 2015,

11:00AM-6:00PM

So to be prepared for this show, I just finished my latest painting.
It is the FIRST time I haven't done a Toronto 'landmark' in my "Sign of the Times" Series.
And I am really happy with it.
I took this existing poster as my original inspiration:

...BUT this is what I came up with.....

"Gore Park", 36" x 24", Acrylic on Board,
So, the centre of the painting is the Gore Park fountain, which is originally from the 1870's.
STUNNING!
Yes.....some artistic liberties about the park area.....but not THAT many!
YES....this painting is available for purchase NOW!
For those of you who would like a giclèe of this piece......
I will have limited edition giclèes (both 16"x20" and 8"x10") that will be available in a few weeks!!! If you are interested in pre-ordering a giclèe, just email me!
See you in Hamilton in a few weeks!!
(I hope to have other Hamilton piece ready for then!! FINGERS CROSSED)

LUCKY DUCK COMMISSION.....

HELLO!!!!!!
So, I have been working at completing the commissions on my drawing board...and I am getting there. SLOOOWLY but surely.
At The Artist Project I was asked to create a companion piece to this guy:
"Stitch in Time....", 12" x 12" Acrylic on Board.
So, I just finished this little guy:

"Lucky Duck", 12" x 12" Acrylic on Board.

No......not exactly the same. But obviously similar in theme, colour and size.
I am happy with these 2 together!!
What do you think?
Super cute?
See how easy it is to get a commissioned piece??
DO IT!
(Just email me, and I will start as soon as I can!)
